This May, join us in the beautiful Valle de Bravo, 2 hours from Mexico City, for a 4-day intensive pre-certification program on our unique Disruptive Design Methodology. The 14-unit curriculum dives deep into systems, sustainability and design methods for enacting social change. The program is taught by the Un-School founder, Dr. Leyla Acaroglu, and covers the full set of Un-School classes-- systems thinking, gamification and game theory, ethics and empathy, cognitive sciences for change making, life cycle thinking and more. As this is our pre-certification program; upon the completion of all course requirements, you will have the opportunity to apply to become a certified educator of the Un-School’s Disruptive Design Methodology for social change. The program is perfect for educators, designers, creative directors and professional practitioners that are engaged in social innovation and creative change. Run in an intensive Masterclass format over the course of 4 days, this program will be hosted at the beautiful and tranquil forest of Valle de Bravo’s Universidad del Medio Ambiente (University of the Environment). Mexico May Masterclass FAQs
What does the Masterclass include?
The Masterclass is made up of eight classes, each of which lasts three hours and covers two Disruptive Design models. In addition to the in-class workshop activities, Masterclass participants receive project mentoring plus access to curriculum resources, including the pre-pack (full of readings and preparation activities) and the full Disruptive Design guidebook by Leyla Acaroglu.
Who is this for?
Educators, educational entrepreneurs, designers, creative strategists and practitioners, social innovators, strategic planners, innovation specialists, social change agents, campaign strategists and community organizers.
What will I get out of the training?
Once registered, you will receive a prep pack and begin to receive our bi-weekly reading list, which includes a suite of preparation activities and readings to get your mind primed for the training. During the 4 days we spend together in Valle de Bravo, we will dive deep into the full curriculum of Disruptive Design Methodology. You will also get to connect with amazing like minded practitioners, train in content delivery, and, once you have completed all the course requirements, you will be pre-registered to apply for certification in the Disruptive Design Methodology.
Are there other activities aside from the daily workshops?
Yes! We have a beautiful welcome dinner and some evening events planned for the group.
What is the 3 day educators symposium?
In partnership with UMA Mexico, the Un-School of Disruptive Design is hosting a three day educators symposium in Valle de Bravo, Mexico, which will bring together 30-40 diverse educators and educational entrepreneurs from around the world. Held on May 27-29th, 2016, this symposium provides a place for people working to increase literacy in social and environmental sustainability across disciplines, to share and collaborate on, creative strategies for effecting social change.
The agenda for the three days mirrors the symposium’s objectives: to share, reflect on, evolve and build new tactics, tools and models for effectively enable collective and individual approaches to increasing sustainability literacy.
The symposium is by invitation only. If you have not received an invitation but would like to attend, please complete our invitation registry.
What does the registration fee cover?
Regular registration (4 day pre-certification training) covers the full 4 day masterclass training as well as our welcome dinner. You will need to take care of all your own travel and accommodation arrangements.
The regular 7 day option (4 day training + 3 day Symposium) covers your registration for both events, as well as the welcome dinner for the masterclass training and lunches each day.
The full 7 day package includes all of the above and in addition we organize your accommodation and transit from Mexico City to Valle de Bravo and back.
*For those of you that will be arranging your own transportation and accommodation, please note that once everyone has registered, we will aid in connecting participants to arrange group accommodation and/or shared airport links.
What does it mean to be certified in the Disruptive Design Methodology?
Beginning in June 2016, we will be offering a full certification program in the disruptive Design methodology that will allow practitioners to deliver all of our content and use our resources (presentations, workshop materials and experiential learning programs). There will be a small fee to apply for certification and you will also be required to demonstrate your aptitude with the core content. Certified practitioners will also be able to charge to teach our content and apply to run Un-School programming in different locations. All certified practitioners need to have completed the full 14 units and demonstrate an acute level of expertise in the content and thinking.
Who should Take the Masterclass?
The full Disruptive Design Curriculum is designed to advance the skillsets of designers, educators, social innovators, innovation specialists, strategic planners and entrepreneurs.
What else will I have to do?
Weekly reading and prep list will be provided before the masterclass begins and it is expected that all participants will read and prepare before the class.

What about accommodation?
We have connections with local hotels and guest houses that will offer you a 10% discount when booking. We are also offering a small number of full packages for which we will organize all your accommodation as well as the transport from Mexico City to Valle de Bravo (and back).
